A Recent, Important Announcement from Save the Strays Schuylkill on Facebook:
"Unfortunately, our intake is currently on pause with 50plus kittens under 12weeks and 70 cats 3ms and up.
Until we can get more cats and kittens adopted and moved on—and get the ones currently in our care spayed and neutered—we simply cannot take in any more animals at this time.
We are completely overwhelmed with the number of cats and kittens already in our program and have reached our capacity.
We are also temporarily unable to take on new trapping projects. Our veterinary appointments have slowed significantly due to summer schedules, vacations, and limited availability, creating a backlog of cats waiting to be fixed.
The reality is that without one or two additional dedicated foster homes stepping up to help, our ability to continue rescuing, trapping, and assisting cats in need will remain extremely limited.
If you’ve ever considered fostering, now is the time. Even opening your home to one litter or one cat can make a tremendous difference and help us continue our mission.

I do want to emphasize that many of the kittens we take in are not instantly tame. They require a great deal of time, patience, love, and consistency to help them become wonderful family pets.
When fostering kittens for us, there are a few requirements we ask you to follow, such as setting them up in a small kennel or playpen and following our socialization protocol. It isn’t difficult, but it does require consistency. The process simply won’t be as effective if shortcuts are taken. We’ll provide guidance and support along the way, but the key to success is patience and following the plan.
The reward is watching a frightened kitten transform into a confident, loving companion."
